Connect with you
Identify your moods and feelings, take notes about the day you have spent. You can use one of our checklists: Checklist for girls or Checklist for boys, you can write in a journal or diary, use an app or simply write it down in your phone, taking a moment each day to reflect on you how you have been and felt. Enjoy getting to know yourself and your body better.
Explore how, simply by observing yourself, you can get to know yourself better and understand how the cycles we are exposed to affect you and how you live.
Explore the extent to which life is not a succession of unconnected events but inter-connected thanks to your constant decisions.
Your body is constantly communicating with you, are you willing to listen?
The world we live in often makes us think that who we are on the inside is not as important as what we do, what we have or how we look on the outside.
Getting to know you from the inside is what really matters!
The relationship you have with yourself is the most important relationship you have and will have for your whole life!
Checking in with yourself as much as you can (without perfection) of how you and your body feel will support you to build the relationship with you and take care of yourself even more. You can use journaling to support with this as well.
If you are tired, have you organised yourself (for example, get to bed earlier) so you are able to get more sleep to regain your energy?
Have you spent time with people who inspire and support you?
Have you given yourself time to relax?
Are you nourishing your body with healthy foods?
Have you given yourself time to do what you love? This could include getting your hair done, exercising, connecting with friends.
And most importantly:
Do you accept yourself when you are learning and growing and allow yourself to laugh at yourself (not take yourself so seriously)? This isn’t about impressing anyone, but simply to spend some time celebrating being with you and adoring you….
Be your best friend! Remember that if you turn up the volume on LOVE and self-care, you will see your well-being increase.
Your body is sacred and precious ….. and is always asking you to treat yourself with the love and gentleness you deserve.
Being aware of how much and how often you take care of yourself is a great exercise in self-awareness and responsibility.
Self-awareness
is simply being honest in expressing what is really happening to you, to openly review the day, the week, your period (if applicable), your body, and communicate what is happening.
Self-responsibility
is the next step. It means changing things that are within our reach to generate greater well-being. As an example, how we prepare for the day, the week, or for a stressful time associated with exams at school can positively or negatively affect our bodies.
Realising this is key for your well-being. Looking at how you sleep, how your diet is, the time you spend taking care of yourself and the ways you take care of yourself, as well as reviewing your emotional behaviours and repeated reactions, observing any stress in your life and discovering ways to de-stress.
